The Case for a Regular Physical Exam

Physicals are essential for everyday people who want peace of mind that their body is healthy, ensuring any underlying medical issues are identified and treated early. They provide an opportunity to discuss health concerns directly with your doctor during a general physical assessment.

How Important Is a Sports Physical, Really?

Sports physicals are a critical tool to help avoid injury on the playing field. During a sports physical, a doctor evaluates your overall health, ensures fitness for your chosen activity, screens for underlying conditions like asthma, checks that protective gear fits properly, and suggests stretching or preventive measures.

How Often Do You Need a Physical Exam?

Generally, adults should have a physical every one to two years. However, you should schedule a visit more frequently if you:

  • Are starting a new exercise regimen or making major lifestyle changes.
  • Manage chronic health problems such as high blood pressure or diabetes.
  • Experience new or unusual symptoms, such as fatigue, unexpected weight changes, or fluctuating energy levels.
